Weimaraners bought in pet stores can have the AKC registration. However, the AKC just records information supplied by the breeder and does not really guarantee the high quality of the Weimaraner puppy. Therefore, the AKC certificate does not mean the Weimaraner pup is really purebred. With pet stores, you cannot be sure that your breeder is as responsible and reputable as he claims to be.
Reputable breeders prefer not to deal with pet shops. They are genuinely interested in the futures of their Weimaraner puppies and choose potential owners. As a rule, they keep track of the pups they have sold. Pet stores know nothing about the owners of their puppies and about the conditions the pup will be living in once it is sold.
